Warbird FAA Pilot Authorization Eligibility Question

I am reviewing the language of FAA 8900.1 CHG 570, Section 5-1580 "Eligibility for an Aircraft Authorization" and have a question as to how the requirements of A.5) are interpreted by the FAA. The language states that to be eligible, if the aircraft is capable of supersonic flight and the applicant does not have U.S. military qualification, that the applicant "...have a minimum of 250 hours of pilot flight time as PIC of a fixed-wing turbojet-powered aircraft, in a Group V, VI, or VII aircraft (see table 5-173)..." The list includes aircraft flown by many members of this association, like L-29, L-39, Vampire, etc., but also oddly includes the Cirrus SJ50 VisionJet. If flying 250 hours PIC in the VisionJet would work, why would my 1,000 hours plus as PIC in a CJ/CJ3 not work? I could see some relevance of the SJ50 if one was qualifying to fly a single-engine jet warbird, but what would that have to do with qualifying to fly a supersonic-capable twin engine jet warbird (T-38 / F-5)? Any thoughts appreciated. Karl Hutter
